I honestly don't know where to start because there are so many things I want to say to you. Today is your day, but somehow I'm the one sitting here thinking about all the memories we've made, all the conversations we've had, all the laughs, all the silly arguments, and all those little moments that probably seemed ordinary at the time but became special to me.
Being in a long-distance relationship isn't always easy. There are days when I wish you were actually here, sitting beside me, instead of being someone I can only talk to through a screen. Sometimes I wish I could just see you, spend a normal day with you, celebrate your birthday with you, and make memories that don't have to happen through a phone. But even with all that distance between us, you've still managed to become a person I think about, care about, and genuinely want to see happy.
We've had our good days and our not-so-good days. We've laughed together, annoyed each other, misunderstood each other, and probably made each other say “why are you like this?” more times than we can count 😭. But every little thing has become a part of our story, and that's what makes our relationship ours.
I don't know what the future will look like, and I can't promise that everything will always be perfect. But I do know that I'm grateful for the memories we already have. I'm grateful for the random conversations, the jokes, the little things you say, the moments when you make me smile without even trying, and even the memories that taught us how to understand each other better.
On your birthday, more than anything, I want you to be happy. I hope this new year of your life brings you closer to your dreams, gives you reasons to smile, and brings you people and moments that make your life beautiful. I hope you never stop believing in yourself, even on the days when things don't go the way you want.
